Well folks, this one is long overdue and as much as I'd like to blame family circumstances for keeping me from it, I really just haven't made the time to sit down and write this update.
Everything with us Huffmans is going along superbly. Young Charlotte is growing like crazy and Janet and I are loving parenthood. We took a fantastic trip to Calgary in August and enjoyed 10 days of incredible weather. We were there for my long-time friend Paul's wedding to his lovely wife Shauna, which was an absolute blast! We also got to show Charlotte off, see old, dear friends, and spend a couple of nights in fabulous Banff. It was Charlotte's first time flying and our first 'real' trip as a family. Charlotte slept beautifully throughout the trip and proved to be infinitely portable. It was much easier traveling with her than we ever could have imagined.
On the home front, Charlotte started taking swimming lessons in September. Dad takes her in the water while mom looks on from the sidelines and supports. Charlotte approaches swimming with cool indifference, which suits us fine as she's not wailing away or fussing.
Boston Marathon registration took place in September and I was accepted into the 2012 race, so next April 14th we'll pack up in the car and head down to historic Boston for a couple of days so I can participate. Poor little Charlotte will spend a good part of her first birthday in her car seat driving back from Boston while her dad whines in the front seat from his shockingly sore legs.
Those who are in Ottawa would agree that we had some of the finest Thanksgiving weather in memory. Four bluebird days of sunshine, colourful leaves and mild-warm temps. We laid pretty low for the weekend, we had a nice walk in Gatineau Park and dinner over at the Huffmans. It was a great weekend and we are happy to get back to our regular routine.
All the best.
Love,
Wes, Janet and Charlotte
